David Westerfield
Glenview, Illinois resident David Westerfield attended Wayne State University in Detroit where he majored in Fine Art. He later transferred to North Park College in Chicago earning a BA in Art with a concentration in drawing and painting. Westerfield also studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, the Sedona Art Center in Arizona, and has taken plein air painting workshops with Marcia Burtt and Randall Sexton.
After graduating, Westerfield began a career in graphic design and illustration which has stretched more than thirty years. His illustration credits include The Saturday Evening Post, The Covenant Companion and many other editorials as well as corporate publications. Westerfield is also the illustrator for a series of eight step-by-step drawing books for children in the Draw It series published by Heinemann Library. In recent years he has taken time away from commercial art and renewed his interest in fine arts. He paints both in his studio and on location, regularly traveling to favorite spots in Michigan, California, and Hawaii.
