Maintaining an art studio in Detroit, Michigan, Jennifer Somes Chope paints in oil following the tradition of earlier representational artists, focusing on still life and landscape. She is a second generation artist; both of her grandfathers were artists. Her father is an engineer and so she is especially attracted to the arrangement of things, composition through color, light, shapes, reflections, shadows – the dance of light and color between objects and their surroundings. Chope continues her art education by traveling around the country to study with various other established artists
